When They Go Low...

September 27, 2024

...we go high"––to a point! Michelle Obama’s call to action tracks with my outlook on life too. But there comes a point, as in this election, when the seeming national dispensation for truth requires something more.

I did not yell and scream when my opponent exaggerated her accomplishments or said that the Commission had promised that all gravel roads in the county would be paved with the passage of a half-cent road tax or that the Commission “flip-flopped on giving Seniors property tax relief”. I bit my tongue. But when she went after the most vulnerable in our community––our children and our first responders––the gloves came off.

Confrontation is not my style, nor is it productive. But I believe it falls to me to make sure that voters know enough to make a rational choice when they vote for Boone County Northern District Commissioner. This election, and its widespread ramifications, are too important. So, in response, I have devoted a page on my website encouraging voters to decide for themselves, after reading “In Her Words,” who can best serve Boone County.

With 18 days left in the campaign, I’m sharing an excerpt with you here in hope that you will help spread the Word! Please share the newsletter widely or post links to my website and “In Her Words” webpage on your own social media. I believe her words speak for themselves.

**********

Listen to an excerpt "in her words", from the floor of the

Missouri House of Representatives

As I say in the preface to “In Her Words”:

As our political system has become increasingly fractured, the common standards to which our public officeholders are held—values like honesty, integrity, kindness, competence, and compassion—have eroded.

It is incumbent upon each voter to understand the values of those for whom they vote.

Thank you!
